Topson Downs of California

Topson Downs is a Los Angeles based global apparel manufacturing company that strives to create the best clothing at the best price. At this company, I focused on designing Men's and Boy's clothing for many different accounts: Elwood (Web, Tilly's, Zumiez, TJ Maxx, Ross), Jaywalker for Macy's, 5th & Ryder for Nordstrom, Carbon for Rue 21, Jackson for Target, etc. Because I was not just focusing on a single label, I had to really study multiple demographics, yet still being ahead of the. I did this by researching trends in colors, silhouettes, fabrics in order to come up with concepts to develop into designs. I created sketches of styles for CADs, linesheets, and development. I created initial tech packs for the technical designers so they could properly execute proto samples. Through trial and error, we developed methods to construct garments with more complex designs. During fittings, I compared specs to the fit and drape of styles to make sure the look stayed true to the brand. To maintain rapport with different departments, I scheduled meetings with Sales, Marketing, and Production so that everyone was on the same page and to facilitate the process of development to production.
