Young & Reckless

Young & Reckless is a Los Angeles based streetwear-inspired clothing brand by music producer Drama, who also co-starred in "Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory." Moving to a new city and working in an environment with a larger customer base was exciting because I was only working in smaller operations before. I made detailed tech packs to ensure fabric, trims, and colors reflected designs as much as possible. Through trial and error, my team developed methods to construct garments with more complex designs. During fittings, I compared specs to the fit and drape of styles to make sure the look stayed true to the brand. One of the biggest lessons I learned was building strong relations with vendors because that was the best way to find the most effective solutions to sample and produce designs. I did this by reviewing strikeoffs/samples/production and writing approval comments throughout each step of a style's development. I also updated vendors with revised patterns, sewing instructions, and specs to make the whole process a lot easier. In this role, I learned a lot about the technical side of fashion by learning spec standards, proper industry lingo, fabric compositions, and thorough sewing knowledge, which has helped me become a better and more confident designer.
